AI Will Not Replace Testers. Testers Who Use AI Will Replace Those Who Don't.
What AI agents and MCP servers actually change about QA work, and the three skills to build now.

We have spent the past year building applications and test suites with AI coding agents. Here is what changed, and what did not.
What changed
Writing a test is cheap now. An agent with Playwright MCP can open the browser, explore your app and draft a suite in minutes. Boilerplate, Page Objects, data builders: generated.
What did not change
Knowing what to test. Deciding which risks matter. Reading a requirement and spotting the ambiguity. Noticing that the generated test passes but asserts nothing useful. These are the skills that make a QA valuable, and AI makes them more valuable, not less, because there is now far more code to judge.
Three skills to build now
- Prompting with context. Give the agent your conventions, your fixtures and your risks. Vague prompts produce vague tests.
- Reviewing generated code. Treat every generated test like a junior colleague’s pull request.
- Understanding the stack. If you can build a small app with an agent, you understand what you are testing at a level most testers never reach.
We teach all three in AI for QA Engineers.
